Baby Boy Things

With all the pretty fabrics for girls that available at the moment it is sometimes easy to get lost in a world of dresses, skirts and pink girly girl things. It can be hard to find the inspiration for boys items. I have recently been working on quilts and bunting for boys and once I started searching for fabric with little boys in mind i found it hard to stop! I absolutely love all of Robert Kaufman's designs and have found an array of cars, trains, robots, owls, whales, boats and woodland creatures amongst some of his fabrics. A couple of my favourite fabric stores where you can find Robert Kaufman fabric and a whole lot more are fabric rehab and stitch stash diva the only problem being that once you start looking it is almost impossible not to buy something! I usually buy a few designer fat quarters in different designs for the quilts and then for the borders and backing I shop around for some cheaper material, ebay is always worth checking out as is fabricland. Anyway, I will stop boring you with all the details and show you some of my 'boy' creations!

Time For An Immunity Boost!

I have been working really hard lately and staying up far later than I should do, when you add in a four month old baby who doesn't sleep into the equation then it really should come as no surprise that I'm starting to feel a little run down and under the weather! So this morning I am attempting to give my immune system a kick start by preparing some super juice! Take 1 sweet potato, 2 carrots, 2 apples, 2 oranges, 1 kiwi, 1 pear and some root ginger, pop it in the juicer and voila! If this doesn't make me feel better nothing will!

Time to start a fresh!

Hi,
Welcome to my new blog! Things have been happening very quickly for me over the last couple of months, so much so that I have had to totally re-launch myself under the name of Wonderbugs!
Let me begin with a brief history about myself to put you in the picture! I have always loved crafts and come from a very creative family, I went to art college and have a degree in animation, after uni i went on to work in a pottery, where I stayed for over five years.  For the last couple of years I have been into making jewellery, I have attended many markets, craft fairs etc with my creations but recently sales have been dwindling. My partner recently gave me a sewing machine and since then I have been completely hooked! Sewing has never been my strong point but nevertheless I have overcome my fears and dived straight into tackling some ambitious sewing projects, these included children's clothes and patchwork quilts. On the last fair that I attended I took a couple of items of the children's clothes that I had made and they sold straight away! I have also advertised my quilts on facebook and now have a few orders to be getting on with! Happy Days! So I thought I would need a new business name as my sewing creations don't really fit under the name of 'beady jewels', so here it is 'Wonderbugs'. Now I just need to get the hang of this blogging malarky and I'll be away!
